Jaisalmer Fort

Jaisalmer Fort is a majestic structure made of yellow sandstone, which glistens golden under the sun, giving it the name "Sonar Quila" (Golden Fort). The fort stands 250 feet tall, with massive 99 bastions forming its formidable defense.

Inside, the fort is a living city, with homes, temples, restaurants, shops, and heritage havelis. Some of the major attractions within the fort include:

• Raj Mahal (Royal Palace) – The former residence of Jaisalmer’s rulers.
• Jain Temples – A group of beautifully carved temples dating back to the 12th-15th centuries.
• Laxminath Temple – A significant Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi.
• Merchant Havelis – Stunning mansions like Patwon Ki Haveli, Nathmal Ki Haveli, and Salim Singh Ki Haveli showcasing intricate Rajasthani architecture.
• Jaisalmer Fort Palace Museum & Heritage Centre – Offers a glimpse into the royal lifestyle and Rajput history.

Walking through the fort's narrow, winding alleys, visitors will find traditional shops selling handicrafts, textiles, and jewelry, along with rooftop cafés offering stunning views of the Thar Desert. The fort comes alive during the Jaisalmer Desert Festival, held every February.
