Mahabat Maqbara (Bahaduddinbhai Hasainbhai Maqbara)

The Mahabat Maqbara is one of Junagadh’s most remarkable architectural landmarks, built in the late 19th century by Nawab Mahabat Khan II of Junagadh as the mausoleum of Bahaduddinbhai Hasainbhai, a nobleman in his court. The structure is striking for its unusual blend of Indo-Islamic, Gothic, and European influences—characterized by minarets wrapped in winding staircases, ornate silver doors, and intricate stone carvings.

Unlike typical Islamic tombs, the design here is flamboyant, with arches, French-style windows, and domed pavilions reflecting a rare architectural experimentation of that era. Surrounded by a cluster of other maqbaras, the site presents an almost fairytale-like aura, especially in the early morning light.
