Shivratri (Shravan)

Shravan is regarded as the holiest month for devotees of Shiva, and the Shivratri falling in this month is considered especially sacred. Devotees undertake fasts, visit Shiva temples, and perform elaborate abhishekams of the Shiva Lingam with water, milk, honey, bel leaves, and flowers. Kanwar Yatra pilgrims also mark this period by carrying Ganga jal to offer at major Shiva temples. Many people observe night-long vigils, chanting Om Namah Shivaya and hymns. This festival symbolizes surrender, purification, and devotion during the spiritually charged Shravan month.
