Bhagsu Nag Temple

Bhagsu Nag Temple is one of the oldest and most spiritually significant temples in the Dharamshala–McLeod Ganj region. Dedicated to Bhagsu Nag, the local snake deity believed to protect the area, the temple holds deep faith among locals, especially the Gaddi community. The presence of a natural freshwater spring within the temple complex is considered sacred, and devotees often take ritual baths here.

The temple’s architecture is simple and traditional, blending naturally with its surroundings rather than standing out monumentally. Prayer flags, bells, and the constant sound of flowing water give the place a calm, grounded atmosphere—very different from commercial religious sites. The backdrop of the Dhauladhar ranges adds to its raw Himalayan character.

Bhagsu Nag Temple is also closely connected to Bhagsunag village and Bhagsu Waterfall, making it a natural cultural stop for travelers exploring the area. Many visitors come here early morning or during local festivals, when the temple feels most alive with rituals, incense, and chants.
