Hogenakkal, often referred to as the "Niagara of India," is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tamil Nadu. The mighty Cauveri River enters the state at this point, creating a stunning cascade of waterfalls that resemble smoke rising from the rocks—hence the name "Hogenakkal" in Kannada, meaning "smoking rocks." The breathtaking scenery, along with the continuous flow of the river, makes it a mesmerizing destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.

Apart from its scenic beauty, Hogenakkal is known for its coracle (Parisal) rides, where visitors can float along the river amidst the towering rocky cliffs.
