Raas Purnima

Raas Purnima is one of the most important Krishna-related festivals after Janmashtami. According to legend, on this full moon night, Lord Krishna performed the Maha Raas Lila, dancing with the gopis in the forests of Vrindavan under the moonlight. It symbolizes divine love, devotion, and the eternal bond between the soul and the divine. Temples in Vrindavan, Mathura, and across the Braj region organize Raas Leela enactments, bhajans, kirtans, and night-long devotional gatherings. Devotees often fast, visit temples, and stay awake through the night to experience the spiritual atmosphere.
