Saraswati Puja

Saraswati Puja is most prominently celebrated in West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, and Bihar, where it is regarded as one of the major festivals of the year. On this day, idols of Goddess Saraswati are placed in schools, colleges, cultural institutions, and homes, adorned with white or yellow flowers. Devotees offer books, pens, musical instruments, and art tools at the goddess’s feet, seeking blessings for wisdom and creativity. Students observe this festival with great enthusiasm, often organizing cultural programs and community feasts.

People traditionally wear yellow or white attire, as these colors symbolize purity and knowledge. After the rituals, prasad (often fruits, sweets, and boondi) is distributed. In Bengal and Assam, it resembles the grandeur of Durga Puja but in a smaller form, with idols being immersed in rivers or ponds the next day.
