Surya Kund

Surya Kund is one of the most prominent natural attractions in Gangotri. It is situated approximately 500 meters from Gangotri Temple and is considered the most spectacular waterfall in the region. The Bhagirathi River plunges through deep gorges, creating a powerful cascade that generates a roaring sound, making the experience both thrilling and meditative. The surrounding rock formations, polished by centuries of water flow, resemble a natural rock sculpture garden.

One of the most fascinating aspects of Surya Kund is the rainbow effect created by the fine mist from the falling water droplets when sunlight hits them at the right angle. This natural phenomenon enhances the beauty of the place, especially in the early morning and afternoon.
