Shri Kedarnath Jyotirlinga Temple

Shri Kedarnath Jyotirlinga Temple is among the holiest shrines in Hinduism and a key part of the Char Dham Yatra. Located at around 3,583 meters near the Mandakini River, the stone-built temple is traditionally believed to have been established by Adi Shankaracharya, though its origins are much older. The temple’s austere architecture, built from massive stone slabs, reflects resilience—having withstood centuries of harsh weather and even the devastating 2013 floods.

Spiritually, Kedarnath is considered the place where Lord Shiva manifested as a Jyotirlinga after the Mahabharata war.
